Graphic Design, Illustration
DJ and producer Lumin created an experimental side project called Puerto Rican Space Program and wanted album packaging that connected to his Puerto Rican heritage while maintaining a lo-fi, hand-crafted feel.

We tapped into the island’s history for the album’s main graphic which was inspired by carvings made by the Taíno Indians, the indigenous people of Puerto Rico.

Lumin had an idea for a symbol-based theme that played off of the Taíno carvings with a bit of a space feel. He sketched the basis for symbols that represented each song which I refined in Illustrator and applied to a kind of star chart for the track listing.

We had ink stamps produced for the main graphics. Lumin personally stamped and assembled each physical copy by hand, giving every album unique character consistent with the hand-carved aesthetic.
The album was made available on Bandcamp and sold out of this cover design. If you’re lucky, you may still be able to pick up your own copy here.
