I worked for a church in Tulsa—Asbury United Methodist—for four years. Part of my responsibilities as the graphic designer was to come up with visuals for the sermon series the pastors would preach. The series would generally last from one to six weeks, and I would adapt my designs for a number of purposes: journal covers, large format vinyl banners, and for use on screens in the sanctuary.
Sometimes I would create the design from scratch; other designs called for the use of stock photography. The goal was always to use the title and general direction of the sermon series to create visuals that would resonate with the congregation.
These are a handful of my favorite designs.
